Project Description

Neck pain and headaches

Neck pain can arise from many sources – these can include, but are not limited to, poor posture, whiplash trauma in sports or accidents or even repetitive movements such as looking down to text or leaning one side to answer a phone. Poor sleeping habits can also contribute to our neck pain.

Often, our neck pain comes from a mix of muscular and joint issues. When a muscle or joint has been overstressed from an activity, it can become strained and sore. Joints that are overstressed are labeled as ‘fixated’ or ‘stiff.’

Additionally, neck pain can also cause headaches. We term these particular headaches as ‘cervicogenic headaches,’ which means a headache deriving from a soft tissue, joint or bony structure in the neck. These overstressed joints or soft tissues can refer their pain upwards to the head and are difficult to be rid of unless the problem structure causing the cervicogenic headache is treated.

How can North Adelaide Chiropractic help?

Chiropractic adjustments and mobilizations are a safe and efficient way to address musculoskeletal disorders in the neck and cervicogenic headaches. Precise adjustments and mobilizations can greatly relieve joint stiffness in the neck. Our chiropractor Dr Joshua also utilizes soft tissue therapies in conjunction with adjustments to ensure that the muscles around the neck are also moving better.
