Project Description

A Brief History on Back Pain

Back pain is one of the leading causes of disability in Australia and is something many of us have experienced firsthand. Supporting this is a 2004 study by Professor Bruce Walker, which found that 79.2% of Australians suffered from low back pain at least once in their lives. Moreover, the government-owned Australian Institute of Health and Welfare states on its website that in 2014-2015, ‘an estimated 3.7 million Australians had chronic back problems.’ This means that in the 2014-2015 period, 1 in 6 Australians suffered from chronic back problems.

How can North Adelaide Chiropractic help with back pain?

Chiropractic is a natural, non-invasive method of treating back pain. For example, a 2004 systematic review by the Northwestern Health Sciences University, USA, demonstrated that chiropractic adjustments and mobilisations were effective options for treating both low back pain and neck pain.

In terms of training, all Australian chiropractors must complete a Chiropractic course at University before registering with AHPRA. During their study, chiropractors become highly skilled in addressing and treating back pain.

At North Adelaide Chiropractic, Dr Joshua can provide relief for your back pain with chiropractic adjustments as well as other physical therapies, including manual trigger point therapy, soft tissue massage and dry needling. A detailed examination and history taking will ensure that he also finds any underlying causes of your back pain.

While relieving your back pain will be the first priority, Dr Joshua’s long term goal is to help you prevent that pain from returning. This next phase involves a mix of maintenance care (if you wish for it) and prescribed exercises specific to helping your body.
